The Progressive Pre-Employment Assessment is a test used as the initial screening stage for service positions in Progressive.
The assessment contains 4 unique sections – personality, situational judgment, logical reasoning, and a computer proficiency test. All those combined are intended to create a comprehensive candidate profile and see whether you fit the requirements of the job.
The test is designed and administered for Progressive by Harver.
The Progressive Assessment contains 4 sections:

The Personality Profiling section of the Progressive Assessment is probably the most challenging one, and the one in which most candidates fail. It hits you with a barrage of 100 questions about your character and behavior. This section is untimed.
While the previous version of the test contained one statement with only two options – Agree and Disagree, the new version introduces two opposite statements and a 6-point scale:

Note that there is no option to put yourself exactly in the middle – one of these statements should represent you better than the other.
While it may be tempting to “stick with the middle” in order to show a balanced character, that is a mistake! It will result in an undecisive profile which will not allow Progressive to characterize you, and hence – you will fail.
I give a full guide and practice test in the Progressive Pre-Employment Assessment Preparation.
The situational judgment section contains 14 short, work-related scenarios with three possible responses. You need to choose the best and worst response for each scenario. The third response will be defined as ‘neutral’.
Similar to the personality questionnaire, this section also has no time limit.
These questions focus on your problem-solving abilities, balancing professionalism and empathy, and interpersonal relationships.
Some of these questions are very intuitive, but others aren’t. Below is a sample question. You can find the recommended answer in the Free Practice section.

The single most important question you should ask yourself when approaching a situational judgment question in the Progressive assessment is:
Did I move toward solving the problem presented in the scenario?
You may not always be able to solve the problem on your own, but the “best” responses always take steps in this direction.
The third section contains 30 questions to be solved in 7 minutes (although you are not expected to solve them all).
Each question presents five figures. Four of the figures share a common feature. You need to choose the figure which does not belong.

Don’t spend too much time on any particular question. If you’re not sure, it’s best to guess and move on. Try to work especially fast in the beginning, because questions become increasingly challenging as the test progresses.
The fourth and last section tests your computer skills. It contains 22 basic multiple-choice questions, with a time limit of 30 seconds per question.
This section should pose no problem to anyone who has spent some time working in a digital environment. Topics include:

The test invitation will be sent to you via email from Progressive’s HR department, about 3-4 hours after your initial application.
Once receiving the invitation, you will have 6 days to complete the assessment.

Progressive will get back to you with your test outcome within two business days. If you pass, you will receive an invitation to a video interview.

This free practice test is designed to get you familiar with the Progressive Pre-Employment Assessment – the content, structure, and level of difficulty.
The free test does not cover the Computer Proficiency Test (section 4).
Good luck!

Many candidates make the mistake of treating personality profiling questions as if they were multiple-choice questions, where each question is evaluated separately.
Instead, think of each of them as a representative of one or two traits, to which your answers can add points.

Aptitude-Test-Prep is the only resource currently providing preparation for the NEW version of the assessment (as of 2025).
Note: The prep covers 3 of the 4 test sections. It does not cover the Computer Proficiency Test.
